Providing leadership and supervisory role in the execution of all health programmes and activities in the metropolis
Monitoring the implementation of both clinical and public health interventions including communicable disease control and surveillance, reproductive, adolescent and child health, nutrition and health promotion.
To ensure the implementation of decisions of the Metropolitan Health Committee
Plan and organize human and material resources for health service delivery in the metropolis
Investigate diseases, outbreaks, ensure emergency preparedness from a public health perspective and provide expert advice on health to the Metropolitan Assembly
Provide quality direction and feedback to the sub-metros on their performance.
Governance Structure and Functions The Metro Health Directorate (MHD) is an administrative branch of the Metropolitan Assembly through the Metro Chief Executive Officer (Mayor) and reports functionally to the Regional Health Directorate (RHD) through the Regional Director of Health Services.The Metro Director of Health Services is the Head of the MHD. She is advised by the Metro Health Committee (MHC) and supported by the Municipal Health Management Team (MHMT) which consists of technical and administrative staff of various qualifications with the responsibility of coordinating health programs/projects, and technical/administrative units of the MHD.
